If you have not already done so, please watch this introduction to this week's materials. It is 8 minutes in lenght. Presentation by special guest Dr. Carrie Perry Normally Dr. Perry Zooms into our class. However, she just experienced a death in the family and is unable to do so. Fortunately, I recorded her presentation last year. I ask that you watch that instead. It is 44 minutes in length. Dr. Carrie Perry has been teaching about advertising and ethics for many years. In this recorded Zoominar she provides a succinct, insightful overview of the history, psychology and ethics of advertising. 1. Diversity. Pursuit of passion: Passion, Diversity in Advertising. A great mini-documentary that addresses the issue of diversity of culture and thought in the advertising world. 2. How do marketers view us? You will view very short interviews with two of the most successful marketing consultants in the business: Clotaire Rapaille and Frank Luntz. The clips identified below come from a PBS Frontline Show, The Persuaders. They explain the psychology of influencing the human mind; we are left to consider the ethics of their activities. 3. The Persuaders is presented on the PBS site in chapters. You are going to watch parts of Chapter 4 and Chapter 5. You only need to watch specific segments of this video, though you are certainly encouraged to watch the entire documentary:
